The purpose of child benefits is to help cover the costs of raising a child.
If you want to apply for state benefits, your child does not have to live with you in Norway .
You are entitled to this benefit from the month following the birth of the child, and benefits continue to be paid until the month before the child turns 18.
We can claim family allowances for you up to 3 years back.
If your child is born and lives with you in Norway, you usually do not need to claim child benefit. The mother automatically receives this dose approximately 2 months after birth
of the child.
However, if the mother and child do not have permanent residence in Norway, you must submit an application with the correct forms – and that’s when we can help you with the process.
